SAATHI SANGA MANKA KURA gets Global Junior Challenge 2007 award

SSMK ie Chatting with my best friend, a project of an independent non-governmental organization Equal Access, Nepal has received an award in the Global Junior Challenge 2007 in the group Youth Education Project: up to 29 years old. Running since April 2004, the project or the program is being aired from Radio Nepal and many other FM/Radio stations and Worldspace Satellite Radio/Receivers thru out the nation for an hour each week deliver at the best to equip young people with life skills and knowledge about the issues affecting their daily lives so they can make better informed decisions for themselves.

Other objectives of the program as listed contain: building self-confidence and reducing the likelihood of risky behaviors among young people, breaking the societal silence and taboos surrounding physiological and emotional curiosities that comes naturally to youth during puberty, improving the knowledge and behaviors of young people regarding life skills, their health and their future.

'CHATTING WITH MY BEST FRIEND' IS A PEER- LED, YOUTH RADIO PROGRAM WHICH IMPARTS LIFE SKILLS TO YOUNG NEPALIS, WITH THE SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE OF PREVENTING HIV/AIDS INFECTION AND OF BREAKING THE SILENCE SURROUNDING THE PHYSIOLOGICAL AND EMOTIONAL CURIOSITIES THAT COME NATURALLY WITH PUBERTY.
