India's World Cup winning cricket captain, Kapil Dev is coming to Kathmandu to participate in a golf tournament, Friendship Cup to be held at the Le Meridien Gokarna Forest Golf Resort and Spa on October 6 and 7.
A total of 20 Indian amateur golfers will play with as many Nepali amateurs in the team game to be played under four-ball better-ball match play format and Kapil Dev will swing his clubs on the second day only, confirmed an official at the Le Meridien Gokarna Forest Golf Resort and Spa. Kapil Dev, who led India to the only World Cup title in 1983, is scheduled to arrive here on October 6 and will depart on October 8.Kapil Dev last toured Kathmandu in 1999 when he led India-XI to the Tempo Legend Cup victory at the Tribhuvan University (TU) Stadium.
Pakistan XI and World XI were the other teams in that tournament.Kapil Dev, who was voted India's Cricketer of the Century in 2002, was known for his outstanding accuracy and ability to swing the ball during his reign and he could hit a ball even more brilliantly than he bowled it.
