YCL men nab colonel, hand him over to cops

Cadres of the Young Communist League (YCL) today caught a colonel of Nepali Army, Hem Khatri, at Bhainsepati on the charge of using two vehicles belonging to civilians that the Army had impounded during the emergency.
The cadres later handed over Col Khatri to the police. "The army arrested the driver of a vehicle during the emergency and impounded the vehicles. The driver was released later but they did not release the two vehicles," said YCL's valley in-charge Sagar.
However, Sagar claimed that the owners of the two vehicles and locals nabbed Col Khatri and handed him over to the police after he agreed to return the vehicles tomorrow, Sagar told this daily. Sagar accused Khatri's wife of using one of the vehicles.
SP Madhav Prasad Nepal at the Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur, said, "As it was the issue of Nepali Army, I handed over the case to the Nepali Army's valley division."
Nepali Army spokesperson Ramindra Chhetri said the issue will be discussed tomorrow. "Col Khatri told us he had no knowledge about the vehicles," Chhetri said.
